Singapore Literature Prize 2018 Awards Ceremony: Public Registration

Join us as we celebrate the best of Singapore writers this August! For the first time in the history of the Singapore Literature Prize – the top literary prize in Singapore – we are inviting the public to attend the awards ceremony. Come meet your favourite local writers and honour their best works!

This open invitation is also to mark the 50th anniversary of the Singapore Book Council this year, and to celebrate Singapore's birthday through our books and stories.

To promote SLP and showcase the writers, we will be organising a series of public talks at local bookstores, schools, as well as the National Library as part of Read! Fest in July. For more information, please visit https://bookcouncil.sg/awards/singapore-literature-prize.

Tickets to the ceremony are limited and are on a first-come, first-served basis.
Each person will be able to reserve a maximum of two (2) tickets.

The ceremony will be followed by a reception for all attendees.

About Singapore Literature Prize
The Singapore Literature Prize (SLP) is the top literary prize in Singapore. Established in 1992, the biennial competition is open to Singapore citizens and Permanent Residents whose works in three categories – fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction – have been published in Singapore or abroad.
Each category is open to works written in any of Singapore’s four official languages: Chinese, English, Malay and Tamil.

The objectives of SLP are:

• To promote the Singapore literary talent through due recognition to outstanding published works by Singapore authors in any of the four official languages: English, Chinese, Malay, or Tamil;
• To stimulate public interest and support for creative writing in Singapore.

The prize carries an award of $10,000 for the winner in each of the four languages for all three categories (12 awards in total). In addition, the winners will be awarded with a specially commissioned plaque.

The Singapore Literature Prize is an award given by the Singapore Book Council, a charity founded in 1968. Its vision is to Build Our Imagine-nation by developing creativity, imagination and original thought through writing, reading, illustrating and storytelling. Its mission is to fulfil this vision through books and literary art events, workshops, and awards, because it all starts with a story.
